Mental health affects every one of us. At the American Flags Foundation, we believe that breaking the stigma around mental health starts with open, honest conversations.
## The Silent Struggle
Every year, millions of Americans struggle silently with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other mental health challenges. The fear of judgment keeps too many people from seeking the help they deserve.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year — yet fewer than half receive treatment. The gap between suffering and support is enormous, and stigma is the biggest barrier.
## Why We Exist
That is why the American Flags Foundation was created. Our mission is clear:
- **Shatter the silence** surrounding mental health - **Embrace empathy** for those who are struggling - **Build hope** through community support and resources - **Break barriers** to accessing mental health care - **Foster resilience** in individuals and communities - **Cultivate optimism** for a future free of stigma
## You Are Not Alone
If you or someone you know is struggling, remember — reaching out is not weakness. It is courage.
